Networking Nugget for November

This networking nugget comes from Graeme Southwell, Executive Director of BNI New Zealand.

Every week you have the opportunity in your 60 second infomercial to ask your sales team for some help.
Help in finding exactly the type of person you are looking for.
Your 60 second infomercial is a little like a 60 second ad in prime time TV. That's because it is not a shotgun approach. You are talking to people - your BNI sales team - who can go out and find exactly who you need to talk to. Not just anyone off the street but exactly who it is that is a candidate for your product or service.

There is only one rule here - you must be specific !!

Remember the old adage - "Be careful what  you ask for because you just might get it". Well it is never more true than when you tell your BNI sales team what is a good referral for you.
Be specific - ask for exactly the business or person that you need to get to know.

BNI has numerous examples of members changing their infomercial and being specific.....and getting just what they asked for !

So go ahead, be daring. ASK !

You'll be amazed at the results.

Training Sessions

November's Member Success Programme training session on Thursday 17th was attended by Justin McMullen (BNI Clarence) and Brett Sharp and John Walker (BNI Derwent).

All stated they had benefited enormously from the session and members of their respective chapters will certainly notice a difference in their presentations.

Don't forget, if you haven't booked in for a member success programme training session you must do so within 6 months of joining BNI.

The next session will be held on 12th January at 61 Molle Street, Hobart at 6pm. Start the 2006 BNI year with a training session to maximise your membership. If you haven't attended training for at least two years it's well worth it so book early to avoid disappointment.

Featured BNI Business

Each month I plan to feature a BNI member who has contributed to BNI in a positive manner.

The inaugural BNI featured member is Laird Murchie. Laird has been a member of BNI for 3 years and 9 months with his business Professional Investment Services Pty Ltd and has been involved in most of the leadership positions during this time. Currently Laird is the Derwent Chapter's Event Coordinator.

One of the original members of BNI in Tasmania Laird has recently attained Gold Club Badge status for sponsoring at least 6 new members into BNI.

In addition Laird has recently been appointed as an official BNI Ambassador. This position entails assisting me in monitoring the various chapters and spreading the word about the world's largest business referral organisation.

Well done Laird !
